Conclusion

To fully enjoy the park requires a number of visits, as its moods and faces vary from season to season. Interpretive guides and bird lists are available at the entrance . Petaluma is about 40 miles north of San Francisco, on Highway 101. Directions to get to Shollenberger Park:

From Santa Rosa (going south on Hwy 101) or San Rafael (going north on Hwy 101) -

Take the Highway 116 (Lakeville Highway) turnoff in Petaluma and go east for about one mile. Turn right on South McDowell Blvd, go 0.3 miles, and take a right at the “City Park” sign (this sign is very small and looks like a road identification sign).

From Vallejo (going west on Hwy 37) -

Turn right on Lakeville Highway, about 1.5 miles after passing Sears Point on Hwy 37, and go about 9 miles. Turn left on Cader Lane. When Cader lane ends at S. McDowell Blvd look across the street and slightly to your left for the entrance to the park.
